what you need to make about 10 doughnuts:
1/2 pound farmer's cheese
3/4 cup flour
1/2 tablespoon baking powder
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Vegetable oil for frying
what to do:
Fill a deep saucepan with oil, about 4 inches. You do not want the oil to be too close to the top. Set on medium heat & cover with a piece of tin foil. You will here noises coming from the pan. Don't freak out it is ok!
Mix ingredients in a bowl until smooth. The dough will be sticky.
Drop balls of the dough (about 1 1/2 inch in diameter) into the hot oil. Make sure the dough does not stick to the bottom of the pan. Make sure both sides cook & turn golden. This takes about 3 minutes.
Remove with a slotted spoon once golden & place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Sprinkle with powdered sugar & enjoy.
*Do not dispose of frying oil down the drain. Let oil cool & place it in a carton or glass container. Check your city's oil disposing recycle programs. Often they is a place to "recycle"oil. If not double bag & place in trash.
